Other Highschool Newspapers

1. My favorite front page was from the 'Granite Bay Gazette.' I liked it because of the giant photo of the  eye.
2. It was this issue of the Granite Bay Gazette, and it's because of the intriguing photo.
3. My favorite headline is Hours of Focus in Just One Dose. I am interested because it addressed a very real topic happening in at all high schools.
4. 4
5. A lot of them have a very large prominent photo on the front page. However, some of them take up the entire front page.
6. What differs is the text for story headlines and name of the paper, and the size of the front page photo.
7. Here, there are more single-photo covered front pages then the newspapers around the world.

Front Pages of the World

1. My favorite cover page was from a Chinese paper called ChinaDaily. I liked it because it made the main story seem incredibly prominent and important, but not just by being on the front page.
2. My favorite headline was 'Indonesia Pins It's Hope of Islamic Tourism.' I thought this was interesting because since it's from another part of the other world, where the majority of the population is Muslim, and not seen as a threat. Initially instead of 'tourism', I read 'terrorism' and was very confused.
3. 3
4. On all the papers, no photo ever takes up more than half of the front page, and the text of the stories are always Times New Roman.
5. Things that are different are the text of the name of the paper and some papers have very prominent adds, or black borders around the headlines of the photos, drawing more attention to them.

CE 4.4

1. With House Bill 1432, the vehicle registration fee would increase up to $10.
2. A cubic foot of snow weighs about 8 pounds. But after being frozen into ice, the cubic block of ice weighs in around 64 pounds. It's important for how roofs hold up in New England underneath all that weight.
3. I think that cartoon is saying that Obama keeps saying that we're going to fight, defeat and end ISIS, but he is really restraining our military and not actually trying to achieve that goal.
4. Maureen Gilman some old artifacts from her ancestors during the 1800s to garden, to give it a more 'family' feel.
5. The primary way to advertise music in Austin's past was by posters. My favorite was the add for Shiva's Headband at Threadgill's.
6. Gay marriage should, everywhere in the US, be legal without rebuttal. The idea that same-sex marriage is not legal, and that people are not allowed to do what they want with their own lives, based on some radical and incorrect interpretation of the bible is outrageous. If a man can marry and woman, and woman can marry a man, then it should be legal for a man to marry a man, or woman to marry a woman. I cannot think of a single legitimate reason for gay marriage to not be legal. It doesn't cost big government officials money, so why do they care about gay marriage. In no way shape or form should gay marriage be illegal. People should be able to choose who they marry, and not have it combined to the opposite sex.

Africa and Abandoned Amusement Parks

These photographs are stunning. I don't usually like black and white/ sepia filters, but for some reason, these really enhance the pictures in some way. It's amazing how he has so much patience and will wait weeks just for a few photos. He clearly knows what he's doing though, because they all come out beautiful.

I really like it because of the how the bird looks. It looks dead but dying. It seems to be more than a skeleton, but the remains of a bird that used to be alive. It shows lots of symmetrical and geometric patterns in the waters reflection, as well as balance with the mountain in the background.

Nick Brandt uses a Pentax 6711 lens. He takes these pictures as part of his goal to be the last one to document the beauty of East Africa before it is destroyed by man. He hopes his pictures will capture the animals spirit and in their natural state of being. "You wouldn't take a portrait of a human being from a hundred feet away and expect to capture their spirit; you'd move in close."

Of all the abandoned theme parks, I would rather go to "Jazzland" or Six Flags: New Orleans. I would go there mostly because I have close ties to New Orleans and I really enjoy going there. Also, I LOVE Six Flags, so I think walking around an abandoned one would be really cool.

Some places I think would be cool to photograph would be Alcatraz, caves, North Korea, the sky (as in sky diving), and Mt. Everest (if you could see anything).

I have always been interested in Alcatraz because it's a very famous prison, for being in escapable as well as haunted. This photo above is of the courtyard of the prison. If I were to go and take photographs there, I would expect to take a lot of symmetrical pictures. This is based on the fact that I always see the photos of the hallways and cells, which have many geometric qualities. To go there, I would need a camera, and a tripod (especially if I were going for the geometric aspects of the prison). I would need to get a tour of the prison, and pre cure a ferry ride there. I would be interested in renting a helicopter to fly over the bay and photograph a picture of it from the air (I would like to get a shot with Alcatraz as the focus and the San Francisco skyline as the background.

CE 4.3

1. The Patriots won the Super Bowl 28-24, and Tom Brady was the MVP.
My favorite commercial was the FIAT commercial because I thought it was a viagra commercial the entire time, but then switched at the end. It was a clever twist.
2. You can see bison in Texas at Caprock Canyon state park.
3. Oil profits are dropping due to energy companies loosing profits during the oil price drops.
4. My favorite is 'Warming Up for Carnival' because it has lots of colors. It shows evidence of Rule of Thirds and Viewpoint.
5. We don't need a groundhog in Texas because someone has gotten an armadillo to do the job for it.
6. Open carry shouldn't be a big issue. We already have concealed carry, and if anything thats a bigger deal. Being able to hide a weapon and carry it on you? Everyone in the Texas legislature is making a massive deal about weather or not some people will show their off in public. I definitely think it should be allowed, but I don't think it should come at the expense of all this time. it's really stupid.
